I drew this months ago and couldn't figure out the best way to color it 'till now, so three cheers for me. Or boos for my lazy ass.
This is Romana "Romy" Gallo, a main character from my upcoming webcomic, Dualité - a retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in early twentieth-century America (Ohio, specifically). I'm still trying to figure her out - so far, she's a French-Italian stage actress living in the Midwest and hogging the limelight.
And yes, she has HUGE HAIR.
I love love love good lighting and I've always wanted to try a backlit figure like this, but I'm not sure if I pulled it off quite right. I like it, myself, but that's me.
EDIT: Whoops, almost forgot to credit the tutorial I used for the brick wall - owe SO much to =Prima-Donna! [link]

Backlighting seems hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's super easy, and you did a great job on this one. It's got a lot of mood in it, which I am a fan of. And you may not be able to "draw a brick to save your life" or whatever it is you claimed on facebook, but this is one snazzy-looking background. It's simple, but unobtrusive, and still manages to add to the atmosphere of the painting, which is the essential trick to doing backgrounds.
Therefor, I deem this a success! Tams wins!
